Land & site clearing in the Inner WestA clear boundary
for the clearing.

Three decisions set the scope and the price. We agree each one with you in writing before the work is booked.

  1. What comes out

Mark the vegetation, stumps, debris and other agreed obstructions for removal. Tree work depends on the permission and scope for the property.

  2. What stays protected

Identify retained trees, fences, driveways, structures and services. Access and exclusion areas need to be clear before work begins.

  3. Clearing or excavation

Removing vegetation and debris does not automatically include cutting to building levels. Bulk earthworks, rock work and excavation are assessed and quoted separately.

Customer reviews

Good work.
In their words.

A difficult job, sloping block and below road level. I was kept informed as I lived interstate by tele and photos. Very tidy and clean finish when I visited.
Ross L.Google review · July 2025
Did a great job at demolishing my garage for a reasonable price. When I asked them to remove extra rubbish that had not been planned for, they were more than happy to help.
Nat C.Google review · September 2019
After weeks of putting us off and not giving us a start time, we had to look elsewhere and Active were able to fit us in at short notice. Very impressed with how the lot was left.

Sydney market guide

Not Active’s price list. Each site is quoted individually. Checked 12 October 2026.

Typical Sydney market rates for land clearing, checked 12 October 2026
JobTypical rangeWhat the figure covers
Small tree removal (under 5 m)$290–$920per treeInc. GST (Sydney cost guide, October 2026). Access and what happens to the timber move it within the range.
Medium tree removal (5–10 m)$920–$2,875per treeInc. GST (Sydney cost guide, October 2026). Trees near power lines or buildings cost more.
Stump grinding, small stump (under 30 cm)$170–$345per stumpInc. GST (Sydney cost guide, October 2026). Several stumps on one visit usually cost less each.
Concrete slab or path broken up and removed$34–$150per m²GST basis varies between sources: $34–$115 inc. GST including disposal in a Sydney guide; NSW guides put reinforced residential slabs at up to $150.
Green waste at a Sydney tip$237–$360per tonneGST not stated. One Sydney facility’s April 2026 rates: $237 a tonne for vegetation, $360 for oversized; trucks extra.

What these rates cover

Clearing a suburban block is priced item by item: the trees, stumps and concrete that come out, the machine time and what each load costs at the tip. No published guide gives a fair typical total for a whole Sydney block, so these are the parts a quote is built from.

starts.

Check tree and vegetation permissions for the actual address, including conditions affecting retained trees, roots and access. Permission for other building work does not automatically authorise every tree removal.

Checks for each council area

Open the council that covers your property.

Burwood

Permits for the road and footpath

Burwood needs a permit before anyone uses, closes or works on its road, footpath or nature strip, including for loading, work zones and hoardings.

Burwood permits for work on council property (opens in a new tab)
Canada Bay

Skips on the road need approval

A skip on your own block needs no application. One on a Canada Bay road needs council approval, fees and a refundable bond, a week at a time, so we load on your block wherever we can.

Canterbury-Bankstown

Protect the trees that stay

Canterbury-Bankstown assesses trees with the development application. Trees that stay are fenced off with no machines or digging inside the fence, which shapes how we work the block.

City of Sydney

You may need a traffic plan

Some City of Sydney approvals need a construction traffic management plan, which sets out how trucks, loading and pedestrians are handled. If yours does, we work to it.

Load on site where you can

City of Sydney expects loading to happen inside the site. If that isn’t possible, an on-street works zone needs its own approval, and some streets aren’t suitable.

Cumberland

Permits for skips, fencing and trucks

Cumberland needs a permit for a skip on the road, another to fence off part of a road or footpath, and a hoarding permit for temporary fencing on a footpath. A works zone for trucks is a separate application.

Parramatta

Apply before using the street

A skip or building waste bin on a Parramatta street or footpath needs a Waste Container Permit, applied for before any work in the road reserve. Hoardings and scaffolding over the road need approval too.

Strathfield

Trees are part of the approval

In Strathfield, removing a tree that is part of a heritage item, inside a conservation area or on the significant tree register needs a development application. If the tree goes as part of a building application, no separate tree application is needed.

Council guidance checked between 15 September 2026 and 2 October 2026. These are matters to check, not a determination for an individual address. Your council or certifier confirms what applies.

How a land & site clearing runsFrom enquiry
to handover.

Three stages, in the order they happen. Who arranges each item is agreed before the job is booked.

  1. 01

    Mark the scope

Walk through the boundaries, retained features and material to remove, and confirm the necessary permissions.

  2. 02

    Clear the agreed area

Use suitable equipment for the access and scope, working around protected features and services.

  3. 03

    Remove material and check

Complete the agreed load-out and review the site finish. Any further excavation is a separate scope.

Quotes are free. Call 7 days, 7am–7pm, or send the details and photos with the form below.

Your questions answered

Before
you book.

More questions answered
Can you clear around trees we’re keeping?

Yes. Retained trees, boundary planting, fences and services are marked before work starts and protected while we work. Your council confirms which trees need approval to remove.

What happens to the vegetation and concrete?

It’s loaded out and disposed of as the quote sets out, with concrete and green waste listed separately so you can see what each one costs.

How are neighbouring properties looked after?

Shared walls and driveways, neighbours’ fences and structures that stay are planned for before work starts, along with access, truck movements and who to call with questions.
