The challenge
Excavating below surrounding ground level close to existing buildings, with limited street access for machinery and spoil removal.
The excavator worked from the floor of the cut, within the fenced site and below the neighbouring buildings.

Spoil was heaped in the middle of the dig and loaded from the base, so the cut bank along the boundary was left alone.

The entry stayed behind temporary fencing with warning signs, and the footpath stayed open with pedestrian signs beside it.

A worker in a hard hat and high-vis stayed on the ground beside the machine while it worked.
